The Inn

Our 19th-century Inn is the beating heart of the Cary Arms. Steeped in history, our relaxed and charming Inn is the perfect place to refuel after a day exploring Devon.

Combining rustic stone walls and quirky nautical accessories with a neutral, coastal colour palette, our Inn is welcoming and homely.  Large windows look out to sea towards Lyme Bay and, on clear days, you can spot Portland Bill, the southernmost point of Dorset, fifty miles away.

Whether you’re enjoying a local pint by the crackling log fire or a hearty meal in the restaurant, our secluded coastal setting is the perfect informal dining destination.

We welcome non-residents and well-behaved dogs at the Inn.

The Captain’s Table

Gather your crewmates and get ready for a coastal dining experience like no other. Perched at the end of our outdoor dining terrace, with far-reaching panoramic sea views, the Captain’s table is one of Devon’s best dining locations.

Seating 6, the Captain’s Table sits above Babbacombe Beach. Completely open to the elements, dine against the sound of the waves and the fresh sea air and don’t forget to ring the bell if you spot a pod of dolphins.

The Captain’s table must be reserved. Sea dogs are most welcome.

The Pod

For one of the most intimate and unique outdoor dining experiences, book a seat in our outdoor glass Pod. With unrivalled sea views and a delightfully secluded setting in our tropical garden, the Pod provides welcome shelter on cooler summer evenings.

Seating 2, our Pod must be reserved. Dogs are welcome to join you as you dine.

The Wheel House

Located in the relaxed surroundings of our historic Inn, the Wheel House offers panoramic sea views and is an ideal setting for year-round private celebrations.  Enclosed by original stone walls, enjoy the ambience of a cosy, coastal Inn with the benefit of complete privacy.

The Wheel House seats 8 and must be reserved. Dogs are welcome.

The Conservatory

Situated in our historic Inn, our bright coastal Conservatory is one of our most scenic dining spots. With sea views and a relaxed feel, the Conservatory is perfect for dining with friends and family, whatever the weather.

The Conservatory is available for private hire, seating up to 32 people. The conservatory is not dog-friendly.
